Mining Suit Experiment Appropriate Venue

Written here instead of the INappropriate forum.......
It saddens me that a perfectly good post can deteriorate into name calling and character bashing and for God's sake POLITICAL ???????? Good Lord can we allow ourselves to get any lower than THAT? Someday, the people who think they know everthing and don't, and judge everyone else that doesn't , [which btw is the entire popluation of the world ! no one knows everything], as an imbecile, ....someday i hope, will realize that the world does not revolve around them and not everyone is blessed with their vast knowledge of everything *said with tongue in cheek*. Lighten up Captain Know-It-All. Oh wait was that his name ? I forget, I am just one of the meer lowley female mortals on Allure who can't think her way out of a paperbag. NOT !!!! This is a game people !!!! and not everyone is at the same level of expertice as another so ANY information is going to help SOMEONE. How dare you belittle the members of Allure with your pompus display of so called "knowledge" ............ You may be a self proclaimed expert in UO games, but get real here...is that really something to spout about unless you are making oodles of bucks to go with it ??? I think NOT. All that tells me is that you have way too much time on your hands to delve into the finer points of a computer game. That may be what gets your rocks off, but to a whole lot of people out there in UO land.......its a game. Nothing more nothing less. So in agreeing with Somnus and Narumi, I moved the thread to the Rant forum which is where it really belongs. The posts that were beneficial to the game should be left there and the others brought here or thrown away. Personally, I vote for throwing them away....but thats me. I just felt i needed to vent because i was seething while reading that thread . I feel better now :)

I'm going to keep this as short as possible as I'm not as big a fan as some of ranting, but for heaven's sake, who the hell brags about how much they know of a game?!Honestly guys get a grip and take a look at yourselves...

I mean I might know more than some on this shard and I have been playing UO for a while but I do not go around bashing ppl for trying to help others, we all started some time or another, I was a pre-ren player before coming to allure and most of what was on the shard was new to me back then and in all honesty if this kind of random bashing/ranting was going on on the forums back then I never would have started here...

Let that sink in a bit, some are starting on allure as their very first uo game so obviously they would need information to begin with, furthermore I got a comment on one of my idea posts that was rather useless, I suggested an alternate way to play and someone brought the overpowering topic up when it was clearly something that would be more valuable to "younger" players, Maybe I should make a list on each post saying whom the information is not intended for?

I'd been playing UO off and on since the beta (Yes, I was a Beta tester for original UO). Still, I'd always swing by in some fashion or another to say hi, and discover loads of new stuff I didn't know about. So Jackie's post about the mining suit... I find it rather sad that one inconsiderate nincompoop thinks that just because he is aware of "everything" in UO, that means the rest of us are.

Do I own a Mining suit?..... Yes, I do. (A cruddy +1 suit)

Did I always wear it when mining?..... (Yes, only because I felt I should, not because I had actually seen any kind of improvement when wearing it)

Was Jacklyn's post about her mining suit experiment helpful to me at all?..... Absolutely. Until I read Jacklyn's results, I had no idea whatsoever just how much difference that mining suit could make. Those are BIG results. I often times wondered if it was worth it to switch suits, because changing everything just always seemed like a pain... and I'm glad her post proves me wrong there.

So, in closing... if you already "know" the information provided in a post, congratulations. You know something.... but you don't need to post about it like it's common knowledge... especially when it isn't. Remember, sometimes just "knowing" something is beneficial isn't as good as knowing HOW beneficial by seeing the results.

I know I'm not the one this post was directed at (I'm with Jacklyn, the more info the merrier, if you don't like it, don't read her post), but I digress...

I have to disagree with you on the politics thing. Heaven forbid we talk about things of consequence that actually matter in real life, and for that matter, are the most important things to talk about and discuss among rational people. No offense, but the two things that are the most important to talk about (politics and religion) have become taboo in our culture for fear that we might find out that our friends disagree with us, and realize that *gasp* the world isn't going to end, as long as they understand why they hold their position.

... and I'm going to have to disagree with you there.

Political debates serve no purpose. Why, you ask? Simple. Nobody is going to change your political views. You can argue and debate until you're blue in the face, but you're still not going to change your views, and your arguments aren't going to change theirs. It's a waste of time, and often causes angry feelings and wasted time.

HOWEVER...

That doesn't mean you don't have the right to state your political views or discuss them with others, even debate them. You most definitely do. However, I just think they should be put in a more appropriate venue... like a venting forum or political forum... Not a post about a mining suit experiment ;)

No, an *argument* doesn't change anyone's political views.

A *debate* doesn't change an ignorant person's political views. But honest individuals will change their minds when they debate something and discuss it in a reasonable manner. I don't argue (well, sometimes I do when someone's just being stupid and I want to smack them down, but that's rarely the case, and certainly wasn't on here).
